Los Angeles Pacific University (LAPU) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Jay Goin

Los Angeles Pacific University (LAPU) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Jay Goin as the university’s second president, effective August 1, 2025. Jay Goin succeeds Dr. John Reynolds who was the founding president and served 14 significant and historic years for Christian online higher education.
Following the announcement of Dr. John C. Reynolds’ retirement on July 1, 2024, the LAPU Board of Trustees initiated a national search led by Dr. Margaret Bailey, Chair of the Board and Search Committee, in partnership with executive search firm FaithSearch Partners. After a thorough review and interview process with exceptional candidates from across the country, the Board unanimously selected Mr. Goin to lead LAPU into its next season of impact and growth.
Dr. Bailey commented, “Jay Goin brings a remarkable blend of strategic vision, online education expertise, and a deep commitment to Christ-centered higher education. We are confident that his leadership will continue to advance LAPU’s mission of transforming lives through accessible, life-changing learning.”
Mr. Goin currently serves as a consultant in higher education, following 25 years of senior leadership at institutions including the University of Phoenix, Abilene Christian University, and the National University System. His experience in online education, innovation, and student success makes him uniquely suited to guide LAPU into its next chapter of influence and growth. On receiving news of his appointment, Mr Goin responded, “I am excited and honored to lead Los Angeles Pacific University into a transformative future. With gratitude, I embrace LAPU’s mission to empower students through accessible Christian education. Building on a legacy of faith and innovation, I’m committed to fostering a thriving community where every learner lives out their calling with purpose and impact.”
Mr. Goin succeeds Dr. John C. Reynolds, who has served as LAPU’s founding president since its inception in 2011. Under Dr. Reynolds’ visionary leadership, LAPU has become a nationally recognized, Christ-centered, fully online university serving thousands of learners with accessible and affordable education.
In recognition of his transformational leadership, the Board has conferred upon Dr. Reynolds the honorary title of President Emeritus.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Reynolds for 14 years of exemplary service,” said Dr. Bailey. “His bold leadership, his strategic vision and unwavering commitment to cultivating Christlike leaders will leave an enduring legacy at LAPU for generations to come.”
As Jay Goin steps into the presidency, the LAPU community anticipates a future marked by continued innovation, academic excellence, and Christ-honoring leadership.
