No. APU and APU Global will remain two independently accredited institutions with separate Boards of Trustees, separate academic governance, independent leadership teams, and distinct relationships with WASC, our accrediting body.

What is the purpose of the partnership?

Primarily, to create a unified, non-competitive brand presence that reduces confusion about the relationship between the two universities and makes learning pathway options much more clear.APU will focus on its premier experience with on-campus and hybrid programs; while APU Global will leverage its deep expertise in online education to benefit the whole APU ecosystem. The partnership also allows online students to be more connected with the rich heritage of APU.

What is the timeline for implementing the partnership?

LAPU’s transition to the APU Global name will begin immediately. You will slowly start seeing changes to the look and feel of the website, the mobile app, the LMS, etc. More precise timelines for key milestones will be communicated as they are established.

Why the name “APU Global”?

Accepted Answer

“APU Global” signals a national reach, specifically tailored to the needs of career-oriented and adult learners who are geographically dispersed. Other examples include Purdue Global, UMass Global, and the University of Arizona Global Campus.

Will the universities maintain separate websites?

Accepted Answer

Yes. As independent institutions, APU and APU Global will maintain separate digital footprints. But both websites will be heavily and clearly cross-linked to aid students in easily finding the modality that best meets their needs. APU will continue focusing on the premier campus-based experience while APU Global will offer a fully online experience.

What’s meant by “On Campus” vs. “Hybrid” vs. “Online”?

Within the larger APU ecosystem, APU’s programs are exclusively on-campus or hybrid (on-campus programs with an online component). APU Global’s programs are fully online.

What’s changing for me as a student?

Accepted Answer

In terms of your learning experience, nothing. This is primarily a name change. You will continue to log into classes the same way. You will be taught the same courses by the same faculty, assisted by the same success coaches, and serviced by the same helpful staff. You will simply see ongoing changes to the name and visual identity of the university. Other changes like change of email address will be communicated with plenty of notice and instructions as we get closer to implementation.

No. Degree requirements remain the same and are based on the requirements listed in the catalog that was in effect when you began your program.

Which institution will be granting the diplomas of current students?

• Current LAPU students who graduate after the transition will have a choice of receiving a diploma from LAPU or APU Global.• New students who start and finish at APU Global will be awarded a diploma from APU Global.

Will my tuition change?

No, there will be no changes to your tuition resulting from this new partnership.

Will I be able to transfer to APU without applying?

No, if you wish to attend APU on campus or hybrid, you will need to withdraw from LAPU (APU Global) and apply at APU.

Will I still have access to Tutor.com, and Timely Care?

Yes, you will still have access to all learning and support resources.

Will my FAFSA School Code change?

Accepted Answer

No, it will not change. Some official sites may still list “Los Angeles Pacific University” as the name until all system changes are completed. But it is the same school code and the same university.

Which institution will show on my transcripts?

We are currently designing the new APU Global transcript template, which will eventually become the single, official transcript for all students. To maintain accurate historical records, the transcript key/legend will include our full institutional name history (including University College and LAPU). Additionally, individual semesters on the transcript will feature a specific designation showing what the institution’s name was at the time those credits were earned.

Which institution and how should I list the institution on my resume?

Best practice on your resume is to list the current name of the institution first, and then include the former name in parentheses following. This format prevents Applicant Tracking Systems from rejecting your education field and clearly identifies a pathway for background checks by employers. e.g.-- “Azusa Pacific University Global (formerly Los Angeles Pacific University) — Glendora, CA, Degree Earned (e.g., Bachelor of Arts in Psychology), Graduation Year”

Which institution and how should I list the institution on my LinkedIn?

Once the name transition is complete, LAPU’s LinkedIn page will reflect the new APU Global name and branding wherever it has been selected. In the description of the “Education” section on LinkedIn, you can clarify the name change. e.g.-- “Attended from 2018–2022. The institution was renamed to Azusa Pacific University Global in 2026.”

If I previously earned an LAPU diploma, can I request a new diploma with APU Global on it?

At this time, replacement diploma requests will be fulfilled with the name of the institution at the time of your degree conferral. In the future, APU Global replacement diplomas may become available to LAPU alumni. The earliest this option would be available is the 26/27 academic year which begins with Fall session 1 in September 2026.

Can I join APU’s alumni association?

Accepted Answer

LAPU alumni and future APU Global alumni will automatically become members of the APU Global Alumni Association which will continue to be focused on supporting our global alumni network.

Do we get alumni discounts and benefits at events, sports, other access at APU’s campus?

Accepted Answer

LAPU alumni and future APU Global alumni will receive benefits from their participation in the APU Global Alumni Association specifically. At this time, this does not include discounts or benefits from the APU campus.

Question 21

Can I still access my LAPU Google (including email) account? Do I get a new APU Global account?

Accepted Answer

All LAPU alumni will maintain access to a university Google account as a continued benefit and FERPA compliant method of communicating with the institution. Once the new APU Global domain is live, we will begin a transition period of converting LAPU Google accounts to the new APU Global Google accounts. During this time, there will be overlap in which both accounts will function with one being primary and the other secondary. Additional instructions and guidance on ensuring your continued access will be shared once this process has been completed.
