We Celebrate Our Graduates

Commencement Ceremony: Saturday, December 14, 2019
Meet & Greet – 4 PM; Ceremony begins – 5:00 PM

Join us as we honor the academic achievements and spiritual growth of our graduates! Commencement ceremonies will take place on December 14 at the Felix Event Center on Azusa Pacific University’s West Campus. Tickets are required for attendance and parking, or you can watch the ceremonies via live stream online.

Commencement Speaker

Tami Heim
President and CEO, Christian Leadership Alliance

Heim has been the president and CEO of Christian Leadership Alliance, headquartered in San Clemente, CA, since January 2012. Her professional career includes executive leadership experience in the technology, marketing, publishing, and retail sectors. She has served as a partner in The A Group – Brand Development, executive vice president and chief publishing officer for Thomas Nelson Publishers, and as the president of Borders, Inc. Heim and her husband, Dale, are actively involved in ministry and have been leading mission teams to Haiti to love and disciple orphans. Tami and Dale find great joy in spending time with their two daughters, son-in-law, and two grandsons.

Tickets and Parking

Tickets and parking passes are required to attend commencement and park on campus. Each graduate is allotted 6 guest tickets and 2 parking passes.

Information on how to order tickets will be emailed to graduating students within one month of commencement. Tickets will be available for reservation on Wednesday, December 4, via the ticket reservation page. Additional tickets may be available in a lottery on a first-come, first-served basis. Date TBD.

Cap and Gown Ordering

It’s an exciting time in our history as we will be awarding both Azusa Pacific and L.A. Pacific diplomas at this year’s ceremony! As a result, graduates will order cap and gown “Grad Packs” based on the diploma they are receiving – either APU or LAPU.

Please note, items are also available individually. Cap, gown, and tassel are required. All other items are optional. The last day to purchase regalia is November 3rd, 2019.

Online ordering ends November 3, 2019. The next chance to purchase cap and gown is starting December 9, 2019, at the APU bookstore.

Graduation Day Flowers

Preorder your orchid leis, flower bouquets, and kukui and shell necklaces at Pickup locations at the Felix Event Center make it easy to pick up your order.

Accessibility and Special Needs

Guests who need special assistance may be seated beginning at 3:45 PM.

Please go to the Special Needs and Accommodations booth in front of the Felix Event Center to be escorted to your seats. For these accommodations, please complete the Commencement Accessibility Request Form. Advance notice is important to ensure accessibility. Accessible Seating

There will be a handicapped seating section available. Our handicapped guests will have 1-3 additional seat(s) available for their guests. Please go to the Special Needs and Accommodations booth in front of the Felix Event Center if you need further assistance.

Deaf / Hard of Hearing

Closed captioning services will be available during the ceremony. Please check-in at the Information tables for details.

Wheelchairs and Scooters

APU does not rent or provide wheelchairs or scooters. However, guests may bring their own wheelchairs and scooters, which are permitted in the Felix Event Center.


Strollers are not permitted inside the commencement ceremony.

Service Animals

A service animal is a dog (or miniature horse) trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. A service animal is not a pet. The care or supervision of a service animal is solely the responsibility of his or her owner. A service animal will not be permitted at the ceremony if the animal’s behavior poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others. If a service animal displays vicious behavior towards others, the owner will be asked to leave with the animal. Emotional Support Animals

Emotional support animals are not permitted into any commencement ceremony, event, or reception.
