With a heritage of putting God first since 1899, the Azusa Pacific University System continues to evolve and meet the needs of our students as they prepare to make a difference in the world. As the newest chapter in this 120-year legacy, Los Angeles Pacific is an online university dedicated to serving busy adults and is reviving the Los Angeles Pacific name that played such a vital role in the rich history of Azusa Pacific University.


Training School for Christian Workers


Spiritual leaders from multiple denominations establish a Bible college, the Training School for Christian Workers, to train students for service and missionary work.


Los Angeles Free Methodist Seminary

LA Free Methodist Seminary 1903-1924

Built atop Mt. Hermon in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Free Methodist Seminary is established with the goal of providing a quality Christian education.


Los Angeles Pacific Junior College

Upon offering a college-level certificate program, the board votes to change the name of the seminary to Los Angeles Pacific Junior College.


Los Angeles Pacific College

LAPC homecoming

Los Angeles Pacific Junior College expands to a four-year liberal arts institution and is renamed Los Angeles Pacific College.


Pacific Bible College

The Training School for Christian Workers changes its name to Pacific Bible College and begins offering four-year degrees.


Azusa College

After moving to the city of Azusa in 1947 and developing the land into a larger campus, Pacific Bible College is renamed Azusa College.


Azusa Pacific College

Azusa College merges with Los Angeles Pacific College to become Azusa Pacific College (APC).


Azusa Pacific University

Upon achievement of university status, the college changes its name to Azusa Pacific University.


Azusa Pacific Online University


To expand the reach and accessibility of the university, APU launches Azusa Pacific Online University which holds its first class in June 2011.


University College at Azusa Pacific University


Azusa Pacific Online University (APOU) and APU’s School of Adult and Professional Studies (APS) merge to form University College.


Azusa Pacific University System

The Azusa Pacific University System (APS) is established to provide a common association among affiliate institutions offering an education in the Christ-centered tradition of APU.

Los Angeles Pacific University

University College is granted regional accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) as an independent institution and becomes the first affiliate of the Azusa Pacific University System.
